Looking for breast implants that look and feel real!

by Dr. Cooper

A common concern of many women whom I see to discuss the breast augmentation procedure is how natural will their implants look and feel.

Several factors play into this.  First off, it depends how much breast tissue a woman has to begin with.  For example, if you are starting out with very little breast tissue, then there isn’t as much breast tissue to camouflage the implant vs. a woman who has more breast tissue.  But, that ‘s okay, because I treat a lot of women who don’t have much breast tissue.  After all, that’s why they are interested in breast augmentation!

To help make the breast look more natural, I place almost all implants in the “dual plane position” under the muscle.

Also, silicone implants tend to look and feel more natural than saline implants.  Additionally, some women benefit from shaped or “anatomic” silicone implants to help give them a natural appearance.

Another way to ensure that your breast implants look natural is to make sure that the implant I place isn’t wider than your breast diameter.   That’s one reason I take special measurements of each patient’s breasts to help ensure this.  Lastly, if you choose a very large implant, chances are your results will look less natural.

By the way, not every woman’s definition of a “natural looking breast” is the same, so it’s imperative that you make sure you relate to your plastic surgeon exactly what your expectations are for your new breasts!
